LOCKN’ Music Festival Oakridge Farm Arrington VA, September (10-13) 2015
Despite the fact that a microburst swept through the LOCKN’ festival grounds the day before festivities and Thursday was canceled. And even though it took over a 6 hour wait for some folks to get their vehicle into the festival, LOCKN’ was still a whole lot of fun. The lineup was amazing, my only regret, I did not get to see the earlier acts in the day nor did I get a chance to photograph Micky Heart. There was some rain and a whole lot of mud but this did not seem to matter to those festival goers who knew the routine and brought rain gear & proper rain boots. I also had the pleasure of traveling with die-hard music fans with hearts of gold who knew how to have fun in any situation, thank you very much! The photographic gallery to follow will hopefully give you an insight of LOCKN, if you have not been you might want to put this festival on your radar for the following year. What a tremendous amount of talent in the three days I spent camping in these Virginia hills.
Austin, Texas Music Scene Is Unreal!
Upon my return from Austin last week I was blown away how much this city changed since I hung out in the late eighties. I felt as if I was in the Nashville of the wild West. Austin had so many genres and ear candy to digest, not just on sixth street, it seems the whole city was flowing in rhythmic patterns. I am including images from my recent trip, shots taken at ABGB on 8/8/15 of Emilie Clepper, who had a fantastic style all her own and The Lonesome Heroes who describe themselves as a cosmic American band. The Lonesome Heroes state that their primary influences come from Gram Parsons and Big Star, they were a whole lot of fun.
